WHAT IS A BIA?
Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) were created under Ontario’s Municipal Act to give local businesses a voice and the power to shape their commercial neighbourhoods. BIAs pool resources through a levy collected by the City of Ottawa, which allows for long-term improvements in the area. The funds are invested directly back into the community—into beautification, safety, marketing, events, and advocacy.
OUR MISSION
We work to build community around a thriving commercial mainstreet district –
to help create conditions for businesses to succeed and give back to our neighbours.
With Ottawa’s 2026 municipal election approaching, the Wellington West BIA invited all four certified candidates for Kitchissippi Ward to respond to a series of questions focused specifically on the issues affecting our local business community.
