Wellington Village
Running along Wellington Street West from Holland Avenue to Island Park Drive, this area has seen an explosion of new business and residential development to complement long-time anchor businesses – many of whom have been on the street since the 1960s and 70s.
Wellington Village features:
-
Epicurean Row: particularly notable is the three blocks around Clarendon Avenue, which features one of Ontario's highest concentrations of small, fresh food stores. You can buy fresh pasta, bread, bagels, meat, produce, gourmet cheeses and more, all within a short walk.
-
Great restaurants: from family-friendly diners to international cuisine and gourmet dining, you'll find almost two-dozen small restaurants in this area – including several of Ottawa's “must visit” hot spots – plus several creative caterers, and of course the food stores mentioned above. This is foodie central.
- Designer Clothing and Accessories: boutiques for women and baby stores, maternity wear, outfitters' gear, and locally-designed, locally-produced quality clothing and unique jewelry shops are found here.
-
Unique furniture: several stores cater to the high end of the home décor market, from designer chairs to smaller items. -
Assorted other goods: there are lots of fascinating, quirky little shops selling books, flowers, luggage, pianos, and a specialty tea stop. It's hard to imagine a greater variety – all here on Wellington Street West. |
