Wellington West: Eclectic by nature

Located just West of downtown Ottawa, but with easy access to the Ottawa River, the Transitway, the O-Train, and the Queensway, Wellington West is totally urban and connected to the life of downtown Ottawa.

At the same time, the area boasts large parks and public spaces, and a pedestrians-first approach that will only be strengthened by our ongoing road renewal project.

The area combines the strengths of three distinct areas along the 2 km length of the Wellington Street West corridor – each with its own energy and strong points:

The three areas of Wellington West:

1. Historic Hintonburg
main street

(From Bayswater to Parkdale)
More than a century old, this area boasts a strong arts focus, heritage buildings, parks and social amenities, multi-cultural restaurants, and a vibrant community known for both street celebrations and a passion for their neighbourhood.
2. Parkdale
Market area

(Parkdale to Holland / Scott to Queensway)
This growing mixed-use area features the Great Canadian Theatre Company, restaurants and bars, and of course the Market itself with its renewed focus on fresh, locally-grown produce.
3. Wellington Village
(Holland to Island Park)
Developed over the last 60 years, this area offers Epicurean Row’s fresh food stores, a lively café culture, fine furniture and baby gear, plus a strong core of long-time merchants.
