Stroll our new sidewalks enjoying free food samples from dozens of amazing restaurants and food shops and experience a Taste of Wellington West! For food lovers and urban sensualists this is an event not to be missed. And this year the number of participating gourmet hotspots is higher than ever with 36 venues on the menu. This family-friendly event also features a sidewalk sale to show off our great taste in fashion, furniture, music and more! Try a 5-minute “taster” massage, listen to live music outside the Elmdale House Tavern, and don’t miss the free obstacle course for kids next to the Rosemount Public Library. Saturday, June 19, 2010 1:00 – 3:00 pm (food samples) 1:00 – 5:00 pm (sidewalk sale) New arrivals on our local epicurean landscape, such as Dish Catering and Alpha Soul Café, join an impressive list of fine food restaurants and merchants who have been annual participants in Taste of Wellington West. Last year over 30 cafes, restaurants, caterers, food shops and a few non-food businesses along Wellington St West and Holland Ave handed out over 25,000 free food samples to an estimated 6,000 visitors as part of the Taste of Wellington West. We hope you will join us in making this event an even bigger success. Admission is free. Wellington West features a wide array of ethnic cuisines. Come sample our Thai, Vietnamese, Lebanese, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Chilean, Indian, French and down-home Newfie restaurants. We’ve also got several of the best organically-sourced (Absinthe), vegetarian (Credible Edibles), and baked goods in town (Thyme & Again, 3 Bakers and a Bike, 3 Tarts, and Harvest Loaf)! Donation boxes will again be set up to encourage visitors to contribute to a local charity. In 2009, we raised $2600 for the Parkdale Food Centre. This year, Causeway Work Centre will be the recipient of 100% of the donations. Causeway provides employment and educational programs to persons with mental health issues and/or disabilities and those who are homeless or at risk. This event is organized and sponsored by the Wellington West Business Improvement Area. Wellington West BIA was formed in 2008 to promote the Wellington Street West commercial area, which includes historic Hintonburg, Parkdale Market and Wellington Village. It is one of Ottawa’s biggest BIA’s, rich in diversity, creativity and community.
